An 85 foot section was added in the middle of one of their ships, the Sun Viking, to they could keep up with the growing popularity of their cruise line. This added 300 passengers to each cruise. This undertaking was a hge step and since it had never been done before there were some that were skeptical about it. They did the same thing to the Song of America ship in 1982 and it had the capacity to hold two thousand passengers on it.
