Recently and probably like most people I have been looking to book my summer holidays early due to the credit crunch. By getting a package early you are much more like to grab a bargain.

What a lot of people also do these days is book there holidays online; you can choose a variety of custom packages online as well as getting a nice discount. As online holidays expanded, a lot of review sites became avaliable which allowed viewers to express there views on hotels. But can you really take these type of sites seriously?

The reason for saying this is because every hotel I typed in had a negative review, whether or not it had hundreds of positives there was also double in negatives. That made me start thinking about why every hotel would have a negative review and I ultimately came to some conclusions:

1) You are more likely to go online and express your opinion if you have had a bad time rather than a good one.
2) There are a lot of bad reviews especially when people go to a country with a different culture because they are not used to it.
3) Alot of the complaints are about beverage and edibles, you have to be prepared to have different meals and watered down drinks.

So to sum up I have come to the conclusion that some people are just not to easy to please. If you are booking an all inclusive holidays then expect things to be slightly lower quality and repetitive food. People want to go on holiday to relax not to read about people's complaints about nothing.

Beauly Priory

In the Thirteenth century Monks, from the Valliscaulian order, set up a community at Beauly Priory. Sadly no-one has the evidence to say the factual date of foundation but it is widely accepted that is would have been roughly sometime during the year of 1230. At that time Sir John Bisset, whose lands were almagamated with the Fraser’s of Lovat, was the patron and landowner of Beauly. Sir John and the French monks are credited with giving Beauly its name, coming from the French words for beautiful place. Unfortunately, the priory at Beauly became derelict after the 1582 Reformation and stone from the walls were thieved for use the construction of other structures. Historic Scotland now care for the priory ruins as it was passed into state hands in 1913.

Inverness Castle

Throughout the centuries there have been many structures on the site of Inverness Castle, some dating as far back as 1057. King Robert I (of Scotland) almost destroyed the first Inverness Castle. The current castle was built and designed , in 1836, by William Burn. The bold castle, constructed of red sandstone, is perched atop a cliff gazing down onto the River Ness and the cathedral on the opposite side. King James I(of Scotland) conducted parliament in Inverness Castle in 1427, and called all the Northern Chieftains to attend. Shockingly 3 of these chieftains were later killed for supporting an independent sovereignty.

Inverness Museum

Found in Inverness town center is the recently renovated Inverness Museum and Art Gallery which is well worth a visit especially if the weather is poor. Inside the museum visitors can investigate Scottish History and find out how the Highlands are linked with the rest of the world. It is also possible to find out about the people of the Highlands, their culture and traditions. There are a lot of different collections featuring, archaeology, costumes, textiles, crafts, fine arts and wildlife.

Pet owners who are going on a vacation have a some options for caring for their pets while they are traveling. Two of the common options include bringing the pet along on the trip and staying in pet friendly hotels or boarding their pet, either close to their home or a location near the motel where they stay. Service Animals accompanying persons with disabilities are always accepted.
Pets must weigh under 30 lbs.

A pet fee of $10.00 is required for each pet.

Quality Inns charge a fee of $10.00 per night per pet but do not charge any other fees. They may require a $50.00 damage deposit, which is refunded if the room is in order at check out. Quality Inns accept any well-behaved pets with a maximum of 3 per room, but dogs are limited to 50 pounds. They do not currently require a veterinarian certificate. Most properties have designated rooms for people traveling with their pet. Pets may not be left alone in the room unless in a cage. Many properties can provide you with the names of pet sitters.

Sheraton hotels within North America will welcome dogs as guests into their hotels, in accordance with local health codes. W Hotels will also welcome cats. These hotels will pamper pooches with luxurious custom pet beds and other amenities, such as floor mats, food bowls, ID tags, and more. All guests checking in with a dog will receive a “welcome kit” to include information on nearby areas for exercise and other goodies to help make traveling with your dog more enjoyable.

Some dog friendly motels may require an extra per night charge and/or a deposit. There is a weight limit of 80 pounds (40 pounds at Westin). However, dogs exceeding the weight limit and pets other than dogs may be accepted into the hotel at the General Manager’s discretion. Pet owners will be responsible for their canine companions and for any excessive damage they may cause. You will be required to sign a pet waiver upon check in. Additional restrictions may apply and full hotel details are available upon request.

Four Seasons Hotels allow small pets only (generally under 25lbs). Pets must be fully trained and appropriately restrained by guest. Pets must comply with local legislation requirements. Pets must be kept on a leash when in the hotel or on hotel property unless it is in the guest’s room, and must not be left unattended. If guest requires a pet-sitter or pet supplies, they should contact the concierge with advance notice.

Additional restrictions:

- Pets are not allowed in any food and beverage outlets, health club and pool areas of the hotel. This exclusion does not apply to guide dogs.
-Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pet on hotel property and in the neighbourhood.
- Any disturbances such as barking must be curtailed to ensure other guests are not inconvenienced.
- Guests must contact the housekeeping department to arrange for a convenient time for servicing their room.
Guests are responsible for all property damages and/or personal injuries resulting from their pet.
Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless the hotel, its owners and its operator from all liability and damage suffered as a result of the guest’s pet.

La Quinta has over 350 pet-friendly locations from coast to coast. Cats and dogs up to 50 pounds are accepted in all guest rooms (unless prohibited by law). Housekeeping services for rooms with pets require pet owner be present or pet must be crated. No fees or deposits are required.
