This time I want to take a look at one of the “4 C’s” of how diamonds are graded. For those that aren’t aware, diamonds are ranked in 4 main categories or groupings - cut, color, carat and clarity. Let’s take a close look at the last one - clarity.

The clarity grading scale ranges from IF (the best) down to I3 (the worst). In total, there are 10 different categories that a diamond can fall into.

Clarity looks at how many “inclusions” that are present in the diamond. In a nut-shell, inclusions are small blemishes or imperfections. They form naturally when the rock is forming in the earth and inclusions are found in almost all diamonds.

In order to place a grade on the diamond, a gemologist inspects the diamond under intense magnification in order to look at any inclusions that are in the stone. The grading is then submitted based on the number of inclusions, and as well how apparent or large they are.  Remember that this is done under intense magnification.

Just to illustrate, a diamond that has an IF or flawless grading has no inclusions at all. This is extremely rare, and as you can imagine, this type of diamond will have a huge bump in price.

A stone with a grading of VS2 will have “very slight” inclusions - these are only noticeable under a microscope and aren’t noticeable with just the naked eye. These diamonds are priced for significantly less that an IF graded diamond.

Make sure to familiarize yourself with the different ways diamonds are graded. Grab a diamond buying guide - this will make a huge difference in the end as you can save some huge cash on your purchase. Just a little education will be the difference in finding an affordable engagement ring instead of shelling out big bucks and making your jeweler richer.

down comforters

If you bring your pink “Hello Kitty” comforter set with you to college, then chances are you’ll be laughed into tomorrow. If you bring that plain blue blanket, the one with all the rips and frays in it, then you’re going to look totally drab. If you go for that flower comforter and dust ruffle your mother’s trying to give you, then your peers will think you’re old-fashioned. So when you’re looking for college bedding, keep in mind your selection will exude your personal style. It will be one of the only options you will have for showcasing your personality within your room.

Here are a few helpful tips for you when you go shopping for dorm bedding. First, buy extra-long twin sheets. Normal sheets won’t fit the beds properly. Secondly, don’t get white. You’ll be pretty much living in your room and the last thing you want is something that’s boring and will show stains. Buy more than one set of sheets because, regardless of your intentions, you’re going to put off doing laundry. You should change your sheets every week, ideally, so keep that in mind. Lastly, buy a mattress pad! Whether it’s memory foam, feather down or egg crate, you’ll need some sort of defense against the rock solid, one-inch-thick dorm room mattress.

Next, you’ll need to consider choosing a college bedding style. Girls generally choose brighter colors, modern or contemporary patterns. They usually have an idea of exactly what they’re looking for and have many options to choose from. For guys, there are some comforter sets that come with two pillowcases and two fitted sheets (one for the bed and one for the wash) for guys who don’t use top sheets. They like dark colors like navy, crimson, mocha and dark sage, experts say. Extra-long twin sheets in denim and white sell well, as do down comforters with cotton duvet covers, which add comfort that even bare-bones basic guys can appreciate.

One place to check for college bedding is www.designpublic.com. Area brand bedding is a good option for college students who want that organic, serene modern look. You can find whites, blues, greys, or tans with breathable organic cotton fabrics. You can choose from pinstripes, circles, stripes, zigzags, blocks of color in green, orange, pink and blue. Area bedding adds style to an otherwise generic dorm room and will be the comforter set your son or daughter keeps for their first house or apartment one day.

It is becoming increasingly common to see that many of the new, smaller, hotels are describing themselves as a “Boutique Hotel”. Across the city of London, the capital city of England in the United Kingdom, there are now a small number of superb boutique hotels but what exactly is a “Boutique Hotel” and where did they first appear? Read on to discover the answer.

More often than not a boutique hotel is owned, run and maintained by one family, a couple, and in some cases, small hotel chains specializing in this type of accommodation. However, there has been a recent trend for some of the larger hotel chains to build hotels to meet the specific demand for these hotels so this distinction may not hold true for much longer! Nearly all boutique hotels are uniquely styled to a high quality, especially in the decoration and furnishings, and commonly based upon a theme (such as a period in time). Such themes can range from a hotel decorated and furnished in the 17th Century style to one which is focused on chocolate for avid chocoholics. Not all boutique hotels are based upon one particular theme, sometimes there may be a number of distinctive themes or each room may be styled in a contrasting them altogether.

Where Was The First Boutique Hotel?

Boutique hotels first appeared in the late 1980s in New York USA. Although some hotels claim to have been boutique hotels as far back as 1981 in places such as London UK and San Francisco the first hotel to be described as such was the ‘Morgans’ hotel, New York, in 1984. These earlier claimants were, therefore, subsequently described as such and can not, realistically, claim to be the first.

‘Morgans’ hotel  was owned by Steven Rubell and Ian Schrager who had commissioned the Parisian designer Andrée Putman to create a unique, highly stylized, hotel in New York.  Putman created the hotel in what has become known as an “America meets Europe” fashion. Steven Rubell set out to promote his hotel and to do this he needed to make his hotel stand out from all others, especially those belonging to the large hotel chains. He described other hotels as “department store” hotels and his own as a “boutique hotel” to show the distinctive difference - thus the phrase entered the English language for the first time.

Interesting Boutique Hotels in the United Kingdom

42 The Calls (hotel) in Leeds claims to be one of the first to appear in the UK. The Calls was a hotel built in the carcass of an old corn mill and used that as the overall theme. The main points of interest in the hotel are the incredibly comfortable handmade beds of each room and the pieces of machinery which have been kept from the days it was a working corn mill.

The Blake’s Hotel in South Kensington, London, is often quoted as being one of the first boutique hotels in the world but, although this appeared before Morgans in New York, for the reasons outlined above this claim is often dismissed. Ever since the first boutique hotels appeared they have spread across the United Kingdom until they recently reached the remote island of Harris, where a boutique hotel recently opened in the small village of Tarbert, however the vast majority are to be found in London.

If you are planning a trip to, or a vacation in, London and you are considering booking a boutique hotel you may wish to check out the listings of boutique hotels in London at http://www.londonhotelhelper.com/

A Caribbean cruise vacation is an absolute dream holiday, especially to many who haven't had the opportunity to enjoy this type of vacation. Often, it is just a matter of finding a discount on cruise vacation packages that would open the door for them to be able to make it a reality. Finding the best cruise deals to your dream Caribbean destination will be much easier if you follow these tips.

Finding a cruise deal to Caribbean comes down to a combination of having a good strategy, being in the right place at the right time, and being able to take swift and decisive action to book hot deals when you find them. It is the principle of supply and demand that still rules when it comes to the rates. If the cruise lines have more ships out on the water than they are able to easily fill, then discount cruise travel deals start to appear. But the travel deals quickly disappear if the cruise line has popular cruises, where people are racing to be first to book the trip.

Whenever one of the cruise companies has a new ship built and it is time to launch it on it’s maiden voyage, there is a good chance of finding cruise deals. Newer ships will most likely have a greater capacity than older ships, and cruise line owners are anxious to fill them with paying customers. Therefore, they will often offer some great deals to get passengers aboard. And, in response, their competitors will often drop their rates as well, so that they don’t lose too many customers to the competition.

One of the best ways to enjoy hot deals on cruises is to be as flexible as possible with the category of ship and the type of cabin you are willing to book. It is also a good idea to book your cruise at least 90 days ahead of the departure date. For the best discount cruise travel deals, it is advisable to book four to six months ahead because the rates are generally lower when the ship is far from full capacity. However, if you can be super-flexible about when you can leave, then you might be able to find super hot deals on last minute travel.

When you are considering the available deals, be sure to remember that the rates for cruises include all your meals aboard ship, your on-ship entertainment, and most of the onboard activities such as movies, live shows, gym usage, games and sports, and dance classes. Some people are more than satisfied with all of the food, fun and activities that are included in the "all inclusive" price.

If you discovered great Caribbean cruise deals and ultimately got a break on your ticket price, then bravo to you and happy sailing. But be aware, there will be some additional charges that you might not know about. Normally, the custom is that you will tip the service staff, and it is expected that you will. Plan on about $10 per day to cover this expense. Bottled water, soda pop, and alcoholic beverages are not included in your ticket fare, so you need to budget for your needs in this area as well. Another separate expense that you need to plan for is the optional activities such as, spa services and classes (yoga for example), and shore excursions. These will need to be paid for individually.

Spending vacation time aboard a cruise ship is very popular and growing more popular all the time, even amongst those who have never set foot on a cruise ship in their life. The benefits are widely known and this puts cruises on many wish lists. Often, people are just waiting to find the best Caribbean cruise opportunities so they can afford a cruise line vacation. Cruise deals are actually not that difficult to find if you know where to look. Below are a few tips to help you find them.

Finding deals comes down to a combination of having a good strategy, being in the right place at the right time, and being able to take swift and decisive action to book hot Caribbean cruise deals when you find them. Just as in many things, the supply and demand rules apply when it comes to the rates. If the cruise lines have more ships out on the water than they are able to easily fill, then discount cruise travel deals start to appear. If they are enjoying quick bookings and people clamoring to get aboard, then the travel deals disappear and the prices start to climb.

When a new cruise ships has is ready to launch on its maiden voyage, you have a good chance of finding great cruise deals. The new vessel will likely have an increased capacity over an older one, and the owners will be very eager to have it full of paying customers.

Also, it is best to reserve you spot at least 90 days before your sailing date. For the best discount cruise travel deals, it is advisable to book four to six months ahead because the rates are generally lower when the ship is far from full capacity. However, if you can be super-flexible about when you can leave, then you might be able to find super hot deals on last minute travel.

When you are considering the available deals, be sure to remember that the rates for cruises include all your meals aboard your Caribbean cruise ship, your on-ship entertainment, and most of the onboard activities such as movies, live shows, gym usage, games and sports, and dance classes. Some people are more than satisfied with all of the food, fun and activities that are included in the “all inclusive” price.

Whether you find cruise deals or pay full price, there are some additional costs that you should be aware of during your time on the floating hotel. For instance, you will be expected to tip the service staff which comes to about $10 per day in most cases. You will need to pay for beverages too, and this includes soda, bottled water and alcohol. As well, for special things like spa services, yoga or pilates classes, and shore excursions, there is an additional charge.

P&O Aurora Cruise Ship Cabin Suite 228

When it is time to plan the arrangements for discount cruise travel, there are many decisions that need to be carefully considered, as they will certainly have an impact on how the trip goes and how much you enjoy the experience. One of the first decisions will be selecting from the various types and sizes of cruise ships available. After that, you will need to determine what kind of amenities you would like in your cabin and where you prefer the cabin to be located.

When you are browsing through the websites or the brochures for cruise ship travel, you will see that there is always an area that features the layout of the vessel, which outlines the various decks where the passenger cabins are located. Along with the diagrams of the interiors floor plans of the ship, there are usually listings of the different categories of cabins. On very large ships there can be as many as 20 cabin categories, which often makes it very confusing, especially for first-time cruise travelers.

Many times, the discount cruise travel deals only apply to a select number of cabins that are part of a certain classification aboard the cruise ships. For those who have never been cruising before, this aspect can be tricky since you lack the experience to know what the classifications mean, in terms of location and comfort. And, if you choose the wrong cabin class, you could end up trying to sleep as an elevator clangs away right next to your bed.

On most ships, the cheapest cabins, and the ones that are sometimes offered as “hot deals” by some of the discount travel websites, are tiny and barely larger than some people’s walk-in closets. These cabins are also generally on the lower levels of the ship and may even be below the waterline, so obviously without portholes. While many people who are more interested in the activities outside their cabin may not be dissuaded by a tiny, windowless cabin, they do need to know about the noise. The lower levels of a ship are very close to the engines and often the roar of the engines can make it very difficult to get any sleep.

However, on the newer ships that are being built today, that is less of a problem, as they are being designed better to avoid this problem. In fact, the new trend that many of the cruise lines are following with the newer ships is laying out the cabins in such a way that all the passengers at least have a port hole. There are even some ships in service now that boast balconies for all cabins, no matter what classification.

This is a great trend for cruise passengers because it helps to assure that any cabin, in any classification, will be comfortable and enjoyable. Having the ability to be in the privacy of your cabin, while relaxing with a cup of coffee or glass of wine on your own verandah, will help to make the cruising experience personal, comfortable and luxurious.

With the right deal on the price of the ticket, even a tiny cabin can make sense if you are taking a short cruise that will only last two or three days. In most cases, these cruise ships are more geared for those who are partying and the cabins are just a place to sack out for a few hours between festivities. But if you are going to be on board for more than a few days, or if partying is not your main reason for cruising, then you will want to be sure you have a comfortable cabin where you can relax and unwind and have some time to yourself.

Cruises are a great way to get out and explore the world. Nowadays cruise ships have every possible luxury that you can imagine from world-class spas to fine dining. It is a vacation packaged wrapped up into one neat bundle. There are even cruise ships created specifically with children in mind. The parents can frolic in the sun while the kids are engaged in fabulous activities. The destinations are all over the world and you can decide how long you want to be gone. What more could you ask for in a vacation?

European River Cruises

Most of the time when people are contemplating taking a cruise vacation, they think about the huge liners that carry people from one exotic port to the next, or that traverse the oceans of the world. But in the last decade or so, river cruises have become more popular and are competing more and more for the attention of travelers. While there was a time when a river cruise was considered a specialty, these days choosing this type of excursion is a more mainstream option.

European river excursions are the most popular and were also the pioneers in providing interesting “off the beaten path” types of cruise vacations. There are many spectacular rivers that meander through different countries in Europe, which allows people to explore many scenic and historic areas not accessible by the large cruise ships.

As the river cruise companies saw that there was increasing interest in the river cruises available throughout Europe, they started expanding into other markets. As a result, you can now cruise waterways in other parts of the world. There are river cruising excursions available in diverse areas such and Africa, Asia, and both North and South America.

One of the advantages of a cruise on a river is that the cruise ships are much smaller and therefore offer a more intimate and personal experience. Most of the cruise lines that sail the watercourses of the world take particular pride in offering their passengers excellent service, often with a ratio of one cruise staff member to every three passengers, or even less. This ensures that each and every person along for the ride has their needs promptly addressed, are well attended to and even pampered on their voyage.

Even though the overall size of the ship that will carry you on the river outing is smaller, in many cases the cabins are somewhat larger than what you would find on the giant cruise ships. In addition, they are often outfitted with fine appointments, which are meant to cater to American tastes and demands. Some of the newer ships have full Wi-Fi internet access and recent renovations on older ships have resulted in cabins with flat screen televisions, MP3 sound systems, fine high-count linens, cashmere throws, plush bathrobes, and European touches in decor and furnishings.

Adding to the luxurious surroundings of your cabin, you will also be gently gliding by gorgeous French chateaus, imposing German castles, brilliant tulip fields and many more stunning sites throughout the interior regions. And, when you are not enjoying the sights rolling by from your comfortable chair on the sun deck, you will have opportunities to leave the ship and savor the ambiance of the towns and villages along the river and rub shoulders with the locals.

Enthusiasts will insist that river cruises are one of the best ways available to explore the interior regions of Europe and avoid getting pulled into the tourist traps that are so prevalent in the large coastal ports. Taking a cruise on the watercourses of Europe is a wonderfully enjoyable and stress-free way to see some of the ancient castles, to enjoy the history and meet local people in a comfortable and friendly way.

Have you given much thought yet to where you want to go on vacation? What do you want to do? What would pick to do? Would you choose to sit around in the sun for most of the day or have an adventure exciting? Well, how about picking both and make it the answer to your dilemma on your vacation? Cruises are great ways to relax and have fun in the sun. There are numerous unique ports throughout the world that are just waiting for you to embark on. The deals are red hot too! Don’t just sit there.

Cruise Travel Insurance

When you are in the midst of planning your cruise travel vacation, the last thing on your mind is thinking about the possibility that you might have to cancel your plans. People often completely overlook cruise travel insurance or they simply put it on the back burner and forget about it altogether. But, if you are spending thousands of dollars for your dream cruise, then you should take the time to know what vacation coverage options are available.

When you do go out to buy travel insurance, you need to be sure that you take the time to compare the different cruise insurance policies in order to be sure you get the coverage you are expecting. As with most things, you need to take the approach of “buyer beware” and be careful not to assume anything. In other words, ask plenty of questions and get things clarified before you buy.

This word of warning should not be construed as an implication that all travel insurance companies are only after your money, with the intent of not paying if a claim is filed. The fact is that any insurance company, cruise travel insurance companies included, are governed by state and federal regulations and most are on the up and up.

But the problems arise when people try to economize and cut corners when buying travel insurance. When it comes to cruise insurance, or any kind of indemnity coverage for that matter, you can be assured that you will only get what you paid for in the end. Buying the cheapest policy you can find will make you feel that you have been ripped off if it doesn’t give you the coverage you need, when it is needed.

It’s easy to get either overwhelmed or simply become complacent when looking at all of the options and variables that come up when trying to secure travel insurance. When you are scrambling to make your cruise travel vacation plans and then are busy getting ready for the voyage, it is often hard to focus and sort through the different travel policy options. This combined with trying to go for the cheapest coverage possible can contribute to dissatisfaction when it comes time to file a claim.

Before making a final decision and buying a travel insurance policy, be sure that you know exactly what is covered and what is not. Some travel insurance companies offer Comprehensive Coverage policies that will cover just about any contingency. These are usually the more expensive because they will pay benefits under the widest set of circumstances.

Other policies for travel insurance cover a very narrow set of conditions. Because they cover fewer circumstances, they are less likely to pay for a claim and so the premiums on these policies are considerably less. But the danger here is getting a policy that is essentially worthless because the terms and conditions are so narrowly defined that you are not likely to benefit from a claim, should the need arise.

When you have put your money, your hopes and your dreams into your cruise vacation, be sure that you protect that travel investment by getting good cruise travel insurance. Spend some focused, quality time in researching your options and always read the fine print before making a final decision about coverage. Travel agents can recommend good travel insurance companies, and online travel forums can provide candid reviews and honest experiences from other travelers.

Have you given much thought yet to where you want to go on vacation? What do you want to do? What would pick to do? Would you lounge around in the sun all day or have an exciting adventure? Well, how about picking both and make it the answer to your dilemma on your vacation? Cruises are an excellent way to kick back and relax and get a lot of fun in the sun. There are many different ports around the world that are just calling out you name. The deals are red hot too! Don’t just sit there. Get started on your cruise itinerary now by clicking here:

A person you may be acquainted with comes over and talks to you and calls you by your name. These folks behave as if you are their best buddy, but you have no idea who they are. It is absolutely devastating when you have to tell other people that you don’t recall what they are called, or who they are, and you can see their disappointment.

Making matters even worse, inevitably you experience feelings of guilt due to your forgetfulness, which was unintentional, and due to a lapse of memory. If you spend time to train your brain and increase your memory, you will be better able to remember old friends. They are all classified under one term known as memory training. Most of these exercises are designed to improve your ability to retain information with different ways to store little bits of information to your long term memory.
